About Elaine

“I graduated from Boston University in 1989, and worked as an accountant for many years. Through this experience, I learned that numbers don’t tell the whole story - to understand the full picture, you have to dig deeper. These days, I use my skills to clarify the world of college admissions for families by helping them see beyond the data of acceptance rates and rankings. I help students to view themselves as more than their grades and test scores, and to present their unique personalities as part of their college applications.

As a college counselor, and as a parent, I have seen the college admission process become increasingly complex and confusing, especially since 2020. With my resources and experience, I can help discover choices that fit your family’s priorities - academically, socially and financially. Teens today have more choices than ever before, and often feel overwhelmed and unsure of where and how to start planning their future.  Together, we explore paths beyond high school and create realistic goals, all while keeping their dreams and spirit alive. I help them sort through the noise to build a balanced college list and craft college applications that represent their best effort in their own unique, authentic voice. I also help them manage their application requirements and meet deadlines, which allows parents to enjoy a more relaxed and supportive role. I truly love meeting and getting to know all these wonderful young people, as each of them have amazing gifts to offer the world.

My practice is based in Woburn, Massachusetts and I work with students in the New England area, in person and virtually. I’ve earned a Certificate in Independent Educational Consulting from the University of California, Irvine, completed the IECA’s Summer Training Institute, and have completed additional coursework in guiding essay writing and in working with student-athletes.  I welcome the chance to help your family navigate the world of college admissions with a realistic, confident and optimistic outlook.”

  • "Elaine is an amazing college counselor and was an indispensable help. She worked with our daughter from start to finish - from searching for schools, through completing the application, and finally to making a decision. One of the things we especially appreciate about Elaine is that she was able to work directly with our daughter, ensuring that tasks were completed in a thoughtful and timely manner. As parents we remained involved in all key decisions, but my daughter was able to take the lead with Elaine's guidance. She is extremely knowledgeable about the application process - which can be very difficult to navigate. Elaine is professional, and was able to create a great connection with our daughter. Best of all, our daughter was admitted to a university that we believe will be a great fit for her, and she can't wait to start!"
